About us:

Fred Ward originally started Ward Insurance Agency in 1967. The company was then sold to John Manuel in 1981. In 1984 Ray Butchart, became a 50% partner with John Manuel. In 1986 Ward Insurance purchased Warren Watkins Insurance Agency in Maple Ridge. This Agency was formed in 1973. The name of the company was changed to Ward Watkins Insurance Brokers to reflect the two operations. In 1998 The Company purchased one of their major competitors, Hugh & McKinnon (Willis Corroon Melling Ltd’s Cloverdale office). Hugh & McKinnon was originally started in 1909. In 1999 Ward Watkins Insurance Brokers (Surrey) and Hugh & McKinnon merged their offices together in the Hugh & McKinnon office at 5746 176A Street, Cloverdale BC. In 2001 Ward Watkins purchased the shares of Viking Insurance Services Corporation a general insurance broker in Surrey. Today all business is operated under the Ward Watkins Insurance Broker’s name.

Ward Watkins Insurance Brokers is an independent insurance broker located in Cloverdale (Surrey) & Maple Ridge. This insurance brokerage is licensed to sell all lines of insurance products with the exception of Life Insurance. Ward Watkins has a contract to represent ICBC (autoplan). They currently have broker agreements to represent the following insurance companies:

Aviva Insurance Company of Canada
Gore Mutual Insurance Company
ING Insurance Company of Canada
Optimum West Insurance Company
Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company

We also have access to a number of other insurance companies.

Ward Watkins is a member of the Insurance Broker Association of BC.
